The Cultural Centre

A three-year project for national and international cultural innovation, social integration and regeneration involving the Pratovecchio Stia area.

Project objectives

Writers, artists, painters, photographers, theatre, cinema and television professionals, etc. will be welcomed, with a focus on young talent.

• To relaunch the activities of the “Scrivi la tua storia” (Write your Story) Cultural Association through radical innovation, supported by a new structured management asset that implements institutional activities in a widespread manner for effective territorial penetration, at the forefront in terms of the quality of cultural projects and the range of services offered.

• The focus is primarily on training qualified young people with a multicultural outlook that is not only international but also recovers and enhances the cultural roots of Italy and local communities.

• To achieve, in line with the most interesting experiences abroad and capable of presenting itself as a case of national excellence, synergies and integration between various cultural activities, through the expansion of the network of partners and the user base, collaborating with the municipal administration of Pratovecchio Stia, the province of Arezzo, the Tuscany Region, the Lazio Region, the Casentino Forest National Park, Monte Falterona and Campigna, regional bodies and other associations.

•Proceed with the conservative renovation of two farm houses owned by the President of the Award and the cultural association Scrivi la tua storia Lorena Fiorini (approximately 600 square metres of buildings with 4,000 square metres of surrounding land), which will house the headquarters of the Cultural Centre, located in the immediate vicinity of the historic centre of Stia, between the Wool Art Museum, the School of Arts and Crafts, and the Palagio Fiorentino. The architectural design should offer a multidisciplinary, multisensory approach to knowledge that stimulates visitors’ critical thinking, curiosity and desire to learn through an interactive exhibition structure.

• Increase the attractiveness of the area by offering tourist packages in the Casentino valley, the forests and the Arno cycle path, including the museum, exhibition and educational offerings of the Cultural Centre.

• To host this innovative Cultural Centre in dedicated spaces, providing ongoing opportunities for meeting, debate, learning and reflection, becoming a place for people to come together and identify with their community, offering a diverse range of activities.

• It will be the headquarters of the Scrivi la tua Storia (Write your Story) Association and the Donne tra ricordi e futuro (Women between memories and the future) literary prize; a creative residence for shared work between young artists with a space reserved for the Writing Academy.

• It will be a place for sharing ideas and projects, as well as courses in fiction, cinema, theatre, television, comics, puppetry, advertising and journalism, and dedicated to book presentations, conferences, meeting rooms, temporary and/or permanent travelling exhibitions of art collections (e.g. Luciano Schifano).

• The School and the Novel and Family Cooking sections of the Prize will receive special attention, without neglecting the other sections.
